We understand you lead a busy life and may not always have time to check your account balance. That is why we offer a couple of options that automatically help you out.
Overdraft Protection Savings Transfer
In the event of an overdraft in your checking account, Service First will automatically transfer funds from savings or other deposit accounts to cover the overdraft, as long as funds are available. A nominal fee1 is charged for this, but it saves you from paying a $30.00 Overdraft Fee (per item). There is nothing to do on your end because this service is part of your checking account.
Overdraft Protection Loan
Protect yourself from transactions being declined with an Overdraft Protection Loan2 from Service First. Overdraft Protection is a line of credit loan up to $1,500 that is attached to your checking account. If you write a check and did not have enough funds in your checking account, this loan could cover the difference. To protect your account, apply for an Overdraft Protection Loan online or stop by any of our four locations.
Having a check returned due to insufficient funds can be costly. And if you do not have sufficient funds in your account, a debit card transaction will not be approved, which can be frustrating when trying to purchase, gas, groceries or other everyday expenses. That is why we offer Overdraft Privilege.
As long as you keep your checking account in good standing, Service First may honor overdrafts up to $800. We will automatically cover overdrafts for checks, automatic bill payments, recurring debit card payments, and other transactions made using your checking account number. At your request, you can authorize us to cover debit card and ATM transactions. You will need to “opt in” by completing the information below, or call us at 605-336-1047.
There is no cost for this program, unless used. If we cover the overdraft, you will be assessed our standard overdraft fee1 for each item returned. All negative balances must be brought positive within 45 days. Service First reserves the right to not pay if the account is not kept in good standing.
